7" is the new 9"...in Tablets

7” is the new 9” according to industry analysts looking at the new Dell Streak which is set to join Samsung and the rumored (Blackberry) RIM 7” tablet device. Complaints on the smaller 5” model of the Streak is it’s too much like a pared down Dell, and doesn’t run the latest Android software including ironically, Flash (iPad anyone?). Even Apple is rumored to have one of these babies in the works, possibly as early as this spring. I can’t believe that Steve Jobs will miss the holiday season and wait for a January announcement, but I can see them try and sell through on the current first-generation iPad that established the category.

CEO Mickey Richardson and his team at Bookmaker.com, one of the leading sportsbooks, have calculated the odds on who the next company to release a tablet to compete with Apple’s iPad in 2010 will be, according to their publicist.

ODDS ON WHICH WILL BE THE NEXT COMPANY TO RELEASE
A TABLET PC IN 2010

LG                 +300    25%
HTC               +100    50%
SHARP          +300    25%
MOTOROLA  +300    25%
NOKIA          +150    40%
SANYO          +300    25%

[The +/- Indicates the Return on the Wager. The percentage is the likelihood that response will occur. For Example: Betting on the candidate least likely to win would earn the most amount of money, should that happen.]

“Bookmaker expert Mickey Richardson, CEO of Bookmaker.com, one of the largest sports books in the world, and his team of experienced odds makers, have put together lines for other television shows such as Project Runway, Top Chef, Lost, and Dancing with the Stars.”

Who knew you could bet on your phone…but according to their site, BookMaker Mobile puts winning in the palm of your hand with a no-download, fully-compatible sportsbook and racebook for iPhone, Android and Blackberry phones, and a download-able software application for Windows Mobile devices, PDAs including Blackberry, and other popular, web-enabled cell phones. Now you can win anytime, anywhere on your favorite device with BookMaker Mobile.

Remember all that buzz of 3D TV’s not so long ago? Well, put that to bed and get ready for a holiday shopping season competition for Tablets, the new Furby for your online needs.
